Tansor, near Oundle, Northamptonshire, 1813-14

For the fall and spring terms of 1813-1814, Mary Hays lived with a Mrs. Mackie at her school for young ladies in Tansor, near Oundle, Northamptonshire. Hays did not teach at the school but merely boarded there. Her attempt at living with the Southey's at Greta Hall, Keswick, had fallen through, but Hays was determined to live outside of London at that time. The first reference to this location appeared in November 1813, and the last reference in March 1814. References to Hays at Oundle also appear in the letters of Eliza Fenwick.
