Dunkin, John Hays

John Hays Dunkin (1775-1858) married Sarah Francis (most likely she is the sister of Henry Francis, who later married John Hays Dunkin’s sister, Elizabeth, in May 1803) on 16 May 1799. A William Francis joined at Carter Lane in 1782, living then at 67 Aldgate, High Street. Henry and Sarah may well have been his children. J. H. and Sarah had at least five children: Henry Hays Dunkin, born 14 March 1800, at Cripplegate, London (this may be the church they are attending, since his birth is recorded in the Nonconformist Registers (RG4_4663); Joanna Dunkin (17 August 1800, entered first at St. Peters, Maldon, Essex); Elizabeth Dunkin (5 July 1802); Emma Dunkin (16 August 1804) (p. 305 of records); and John Hays Dunkin (c. 1807-1824), of Winsley, Wiltshire, late of Beeleigh, Suffolk. Obit. in GM,  135 (1824, part 1), p. 93. He was apprenticed in 1821 as a draper from Beeleigh.
